Robert Ballagh is an Irish painter and designer. He is particularly well known for his hyperealistic paintings of well known Irish literary, historical or establishment figures. Ballagh represented Ireland at the 1969 Biennale de Paris and has designed theatre sets, Irish postage stamps and the last series of Irish banknotes before the introduction of the euro. He is a member of Aosdána and his paintings are held in public collections including National Gallery of Ireland, Hugh Lane Gallery, Ulster Museum, Trinity College Dublin, and Nuremberg's Albrecht Dürer House.

Robert developed this print on the occasion of Coming Home: Art and the Great Hunger, an exhibition at Uillinn in 2018 of artwork from Ireland's Great Hunger Museum, Quinnipiac University, Connecticut, USA. Robert's work is represented in this, the largest collection of Great Hunger-related art in the world.
